BREWING BOOKS BLOG HOP — Once Upon a Retelling

I’m excited to be a part of the Brewing Books Retellings Tour this year with nine other fabulous authors. If you’d like to participate, you can visit all ten blogs, collect the numbers, and then enter the final total on the Brewing Books Rules Post (www.bit.ly/BrewingBooksRules) for your chance to win one of our amazing Brewing Books Prize Packs!

TOUR RUNS FROM MONDAY, DEC. 3rd through WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5th.

Today I’m featuring CROWN OF ICE, the first book in my Mirror of Immortality series. It is a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Snow Queen,” from the point of view of the Snow Queen!

One of the fun aspects of this rather dark tale is Luki, the wolf pup the main character adopts to further her scheme for survival. However, despite her calculated decision to raise the pup, Luki ends up stealing her heart. Readers say that he steals their hearts as well!

In keeping with Andersen’s story, there’s also a talking – and flying – reindeer named Bae, a magical mirror, and a sorceress who lives in a cottage with an enchanted garden.

Here’s the cover and a blurb:

Snow Queen Thyra Winther is immortal, but if she can’t reassemble a shattered enchanted mirror by her eighteenth birthday she’s doomed to spend eternity as a wraith.

Armed with magic granted by a ruthless wizard, Thyra schemes to survive with her mind and body intact. She kidnaps local boy Kai Thorsen, whose mathematical skills rival her own. Two logical minds, Thyra calculates, are better than one. With time melting away she needs all the help she can steal.

A cruel lie ensnares Kai in her plan, but three missing mirror shards and Kai’s childhood friend, Gerda, present more formidable obstacles.

Thyra’s willing to do anything – venture into uncharted lands, outwit sorcerers, or battle enchanted beasts — to reconstruct the mirror, yet her most dangerous adversary lies within. Touched by the warmth of a wolf pup’s devotion and the fire of a young man’s love, the thawing of Thyra’s frozen heart could prove her ultimate undoing.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen,” CROWN OF ICE is set in a nineteenth-century Scandinavia where magic is as real, as dangerous, and as powerful, as war and love.

The second book in the series, SCEPTER OF FIRE, is a mash-up retelling of Andersen’s “Steadfast Tin Soldier” and “The Ugly Duckling.” Find out more about it here: http://victoriagilbertmysteries.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=971&action=edit

#CoverReveal for KISS OF THE ROYAL by Lindsey Duga

Lindsey is my critique partner so I’ve read this fabulous book in manuscript form and can tell you: PREORDER IT NOW!

Let us know what you think of the cover for Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga, which releases July 3, 2018!

This cover reveal is brought to you by Entangled Teen.

About Kiss of the Royal:

In the war against the Forces of Darkness, the Royals are losing. Princess Ivy is determined to end this centuries-long conflict once and for all, so her new battle partner must succeed where the others failed. Prince Zach’s unparalleled skill with a sword, enhanced by Ivy’s magic Kiss, should make them an unstoppable pair—but try convincing Zach of that.

Prince Zach has spent his life preparing for battle, but he would rather be branded a heretic than use his lips as nothing more than a way to transfer magic. A kiss is a symbol of love, and love is the most powerful weapon they have—but try convincing Ivy of that.

With the fate of their world on the line, the battlefield has become a testing ground, and only one of them can be right. Falling for each other wasn’t part of the plan—but try convincing their hearts of that.
